Ocker Acres

Welcome to Ocker Acres.  We are striving to breed quality milk and meat goats.  We raise registered purebred Nubian dairy goats as well as Nubian/Boer crosses.  We occasionally have kids or adult goats for sale, you can see these listed on our for sale page.  Have a look around, if you have any questions feel free to contact us via e-mail.

My husband and his father bought this farm in 2002.  They raise commercial grade beef cattle, and some field crops.

Sam and I started dating in 2003, we had known each other since we were kids.  May 15, 2004 we were married and settled living on the farm.  I brought with me my horses, dog, cats, and chickens.

I had wanted goats for a while, but Sam wasn't so sure about them.  In January of 2005 I finally convinced him to purchase a Nubian for my upcoming birthday the end of February.  I tried to be patient, since I had finally got him to agree to a goat.  I couldn't, the end of January we brought home our first goat.  Paddy was about 9 mo old when we brought her home on my lap in the front seat of our pick up. (boy was that a load!).

On May 25, 2005 Paddy had her first kids (mine too!).  I was so worried, I didn't have to worry too much, everything went well.

I caught the fever so in July I purchased another doe, Lizzy.  Then there were four.  I then purchased an Alpine from a friend of mine.  We sold Paddy's wether and leased a boer buck from a neighbor, so we are expecting a lot of babies this spring!

Just a quick update on what has been going on around here.  We have had three calves, and are expecting five more.

Padme and Lizzy both kidded on April 7th. Paddy had two bucklings, which were sold for 4-H projects.  Lizzy had quads two bucklings and two doelings, as of right now we are keeping the doelings and will be raising the bucklings to sell later on.

Joplin our Togg is due May 17th, hopefully she will give me some doelings, I have not decided if I will be keeping any of them.

Our trip to KY was wonderful, our buck and doe are doing great.  I can't wait to show them, I think they will do great.  I am planning on purchasing from them again.  To check out their site go to the links and click on NKY WindyAcres.

I still have not been able to upload any pics, as soon as I have a day off I will be working on that.

I have decided to breed to the boer buck again next year, Paddy will definitley be bred back, I have not decided who else will be.  If there are any requests for certain does to be bred to him, please e-mail me.  I will give an update after 4-H roundup and let everyone know how Paddy's kids did.

If anyone has any questions please feel free to e-mail me.  I hope everyone is enjoying the wonderful weather we are having.
